Creative Coaching

Amidst times of change, artists, writers, and healers must elevate how they show up for themselves, their communities, and their practices. This type of change is almost always born from both necessity and desire. There isn’t a road map to achieve a simultaneity of creative and professional success, but there are tools we can apply to expand our integrity and prosperity. Maura brings her years as a working artist and writer, her knowledge as an editor and entrepreneur, and her experiences as a healing practitioner to support clients in up-leveling their creative and business practices authentically and sustainably. Maura offers lifelong tools to clients who want to build and grow creative practices, business, or projects without sacrificing quality or experiencing burnout. This work is tailored individually to each client. Art Writing

Maura has been serving her community as an art writer since 2015. She writes, edits, and provides consultation for all creative professional needs: grant and residency applications, application consultation (including sample selection), statements, bios, web copy, and social media strategy. She also provides galleries with catalog essays and PR. Maura has been collaborating with visual and performing artists since 2013. Her first-hand knowledge of the art world brings her into close contact with the struggles artists face, including the demand that artists not only make great work, but also write about it and market it as well. Her goal is to help artists arrive at language that supports them in necessary professional ways, while authentically transmitting the effable qualities of their work. One of her clients recently won the Pollack Krasner Fellowship with materials created in collaboration, breaking a long period of rejected applications. Another client was a finalist for a Fulbright in Design, overcoming a struggle to define her work to the world. Maura works with artists to support their approach to professional applications and funding opportunities, and to create gravitational copy.

Editing

Maura has been working as an editor for more than a decade. She is available for proofreading, copyediting, developmental and substantive editing. She supports clients with macro and micro projects, including book manuscripts; creative and scholarly applications; college essays; copy; professional materials; and PR. If you are inquiring about a manuscript consultation, please indicate the genre and length (in pages) of your manuscript in your booking form.

Earth Consent 1:1

Initiate relational repair with your local ecology, the elements, land spirits, and plant beings where you live. While Earth Consent group work offers overall tools and practices for engaging relational and energetic decolonization practices with some time allotted for personal experience, working individually with Maura offers you the opportunity to focus on specific issues you face that are personal to your experience and ancestry. Over the course of our sessions, Maura will guide you as you discern how best to show up for land integrity processes where you live. Together, we will gradually increase wellness and restore relational care among you and your energetic, elemental, and plant allies, toward a more spacious, fulfilling, and life-giving experience of place, home, and relationship. Because consent and relational repair requires durational attention to mutual care, a commitment to a minimum of 3 sessions is required. For this work, it is recommended that you are seeing a therapist (or certified healer) regularly and/or are actively engaging ancestral healing. Ancestral healing means different things to different people. If you are not sure what this means, or if you have questions about Earth Consent, reach out to schedule a consultation. This work is based in an anti-racist, anti-colonial framework. An application process is required for anyone who has not previously worked with Maura.

Quantum Syntax

Our use of language forms a dance between our conscious and subconscious minds. This can be noticed in speech, but is particularly powerful to track in writing. When we approach it with intention, the editorial process can become a site by which we access personal and relational growth, confidence, improvement in decision-making, and increased mental capacity, even in challenging circumstances. In Quantum Syntax, we approach shadow work (i.e. the work to shift subconscious patterns and behaviors by bringing them into awareness) by way of the client’s use of and relationship to language. Some clients leave this process with multiple pieces of writing ready for publication, though this is not in any way a required or even an important outcome. Following Quantum Syntax sessions, clients report experiences of significant growth and change in their lives, as well as gains in writing and communication skills.

Energetic & Spiritual Mentorship

Whether you identify as a highly sensitive person or you simply seek support in your experience of the world, energetic and intuitive counsel may be beneficial. Sensitivity is a superpower, not a detriment, but it takes practice to live well in a culture that does not tend to honor or understand sensitive people. Poets, artists, and healers are often highly-attuned people who have been gaslit by oppressive systems and conditioned to judge or dismiss their ability to access multidimensionality. That said, you need not identify in any type of way to be supported by this offering. In these times, we are contending with multiple (sometimes conflicting) realities, and multiple entities vying for our attention. If you seek support in parsing the changes, or if you have been feeling susceptible to unwanted and disorienting energies coming into your field, Maura offers 1:1 support. Maura has been studying energetic and entity awareness her whole life. She is a certified healing practitioner and is trained in the ancient Hebrew arts of ba’alat ov and mechashefa. She draws on her experiences as a healer, her own practices as a highly-sensitive person, and lineage-based embodiment work to guide clients in discerning their own sovereign paths. Her goals include supporting clients to find freedom in their internal experience; establish resource in their presence; and become adept at establishing clean energetic boundaries without reliance on any external source of power.
